Why spend time rewriting? That's why I like showing students how to display their work on a digital portfolio.
"Oh, no! I'm going to show the essay to the world and there are errors in it! Okay, Mr. Steve, I'll make some changes and resubmit it to you."
That's the value of asking students to display their work for others to see. Suddenly rewriting becomes a valuable use of their time.
